Mumbai’s Eastern Suburbs Face 12-Hour Water Cut on June 13 for Culvert Pipe Installation

Mumbai, 12th June 2024: In Mumbai’s eastern suburbs, specifically the M/East and M/West wards, residents are advised to brace for a 12-hour water cut on June 13. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a halt in water supply from 11 am to 11 pm on Thursday to facilitate the installation of a larger culvert pipe.

This initiative is part of BMC’s endeavor to upgrade water supply infrastructure in the region. Officials disclosed that existing water supply pipes are of insufficient diameter, necessitating the installation of a 750 mm diameter culvert pipe to enhance water pressure and distribution in the affected areas.

Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly during this period of disruption. Affected areas include:

– M East Division: Lakshmi Vasahat, Rane Chal, Nityanand Bagh, Tolaram Vasahat, Sriram Nagar, J. J. Wadi, Sheth Heights, Dongre Park, Tata Colony, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Colony, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Vasahat, Gawanpada, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Refinery, Indian Oil Corporation, Tata Power Thermal Plant, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Varun Beverages.

– M West Division: Mahulgaon, Ambapada, Jijamata Nagar, Vashi Naka, Mysore Colony, Khadi Machine, Ramakrishna Chemburkar (RC) Marg, Shahaji Nagar, Collector Colony, Sindhi Colony, Laldongar, Subhashchandra Bose Nagar, Navjeevan Society, Old Barrack, and Chembur Cantonment.

Although this temporary inconvenience may pose challenges, it is expected to yield long-term benefits, ensuring a more resilient and dependable water supply system in Mumbai’s eastern suburbs.

Meanwhile, at Mumbai airport, authorities apprehended a 31-year-old woman from Nepal attempting to travel to Hungary using a counterfeit passport. During document inspection at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday, officials detected irregularities. Upon thorough examination, they confirmed that the passport was forged with fake documents. Despite inquiries, the woman failed to provide satisfactory explanations. Subsequently, police from Sahar police station took her into custody on Tuesday.
