Rescue Operation Launched for Five Boys Lost on Mumbra Hill in Thane

Thane, 6th July 2024: Five boys from Dargah Galli in the Azad Nagar area of Thane city ventured up Mumbra hill around 5 pm to catch crabs but lost their way, prompting a joint overnight rescue operation by multiple agencies, an official reported on Saturday.

According to Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), three of the boys are siblings and most are around 12 years old. The rescue effort spanned seven hours after the boys raised an alarm when they realized they were lost.

Tadvi stated, “The boys were at the Khadi Machine area on Mumbra hill. When they couldn’t find their way back, they shouted for help, which was heard by passersby who alerted the fire brigade. The rescue operation involved coordination among various agencies to ensure their safe return.”
