Two Dead, Three Injured in Crane Incident at Ronak Dying Private Limited, Thane

Thane, 12th July 2024: Two workers tragically died on Thursday when a belt on a hydra crane failed while lifting a water preheater pipe at Ronak Dying Private Limited in Sarivali MIDC, Bhiwandi around 3:30 p.m.

Kongaon police have filed a case of negligence causing death against the contractor, Suresh, and crane operator Mohammad Raes Shaikh. Both individuals have been arrested and are currently in magistrate’s custody after appearing in court.

The deceased, Balaram Chaudhary, 55, a welder, and Pandurang Aaba Patil, 65, a helper, were working on the installation of a 14-foot, 4-tonne pipe at the time of the accident.

According to the police, the crane was insufficiently equipped to handle the pipe’s weight, leading to the belt’s failure. Out of the five people involved in the operation, two were fatally crushed while the other three were unharmed. Chaudhary and Patil were transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi, where they were declared dead on arrival. The three other individuals are receiving medical care.
