Mumbai: Engineer Arrested for Social Media Bomb Threat at Anant Ambani’s Wedding

Mumbai, 16th July 2024: Mumbai police arrested a 32-year-old engineer on Tuesday for posting a social media threat regarding a potential bomb at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The accused, identified as Viral Shah from Vadodara, was apprehended by the Mumbai police’s crime branch at his residence in Gujarat this morning.

The social media post, attributed to user @FFSFIR, speculated about the disruptive impact of a bomb detonation at the wedding, suggesting it would have global economic repercussions. Police received a tip about the post, which led them to investigate the threat, ultimately concluding it was a hoax. Security measures were heightened around the wedding event at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai as a precaution.

The Mumbai crime branch traced the user to Vadodara and dispatched a team to apprehend Shah, who is now being transported to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.

Anant Ambani, youngest son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, recently married Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical magnates Viren and Shaila Merchant. The lavish event took place at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), attended by celebrities, business leaders, billionaires, and politicians, including Mukesh Ambani’s brother Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani. The wedding festivities spanned a week, showcasing grandeur and extravagance.
