Mumbai: 20-Year-Old Injured in Gym Attack: Trainer Arrested for Assault in Mulund East
Mumbai, 19th July 2024: A 20-year-old man sustained injuries after a gym trainer attacked him with a wooden club, known as a Mudgal, at a gym in Mulund East, Mumbai. The trainer, Dharavi Nakel, claimed that the victim, Yogesh Shinde, had been glaring at him with anger.
The incident, captured on CCTV, shows Shinde working out when Nakel picked up the club and struck him on the head. Shinde was then seen clutching his head in pain.
Other gym-goers intervened and confronted Nakel about his actions, as recorded by the CCTV footage.
Shinde was promptly taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition but has been diagnosed with a minor fracture, according to the police report.
A member of the gym for two years, Shinde has filed a complaint against Nakel. The trainer has been arrested and is facing charges of assault and causing grievous bodily harm.
