Mumbai Tourists Hit by Tragedy: Couple Drowns, Woman Rescued at Candolim Beach, Goa

Mumbai/Panaji, 19th July 2024: An elderly couple from Mumbai drowned off Candolim Beach in Goa on Friday, while a woman from the same group was rescued, according to a police report.

The couple was among a group of 14 elderly tourists visiting north Goa from Mumbai. Around 11 a.m., two couples from the group were swept away by the sea. Kalpana Satish Parekh (68) was rescued and is recovering at Goa Medical College and Hospital, but Prakash K Doshi (73) and his wife Harshita Doshi (69) drowned.

The Doshi couple, residents of Matunga in central Mumbai, were brought to the Candolim primary health centre by the tourist police and lifeguards, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
