Dr. Shrikant Shinde Launches ‘Navi Mumbai NH-3 via Kalyan-Badlapur Access-Controlled Route’ to Boost MMR Connectivity

Navi Mumbai, 22nd July 2024: Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde has unveiled a major infrastructure initiative for the Kalyan constituency with the introduction of the ‘Navi Mumbai NH-3 via Kalyan-Badlapur Access-Controlled Route’ (ACR). This project is set to improve connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by linking significant cities such as Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Dombivli, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, and Badlapur.

The ACR will start from the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Badlapur and pass through Palegaon, featuring an interchange that will provide direct access to Ambarnath and Katai Road. The route will then continue towards Kalyan, connecting with Metro Line 12, the Kalyan Ring Road, and the Kalyan-Shilphata Road.

A crucial meeting to launch this project took place at the MMRDA headquarters, attended by MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee. During the meeting, Dr. Shinde urged for expedited progress on the project. Tata Consulting Engineers presented various route options, with the chosen alignment receiving approval from MMRDA. This alignment includes a link from Badlapur to Navi Mumbai International Airport via Turbhe-Taloja-Usatne and Kharghar-Turbhe roads.

Key aspects of the project include:
– Starting Point: The ACR will commence near Badlapur on the Mumbai-Delhi highway.
– Interchanges: The route will feature an initial interchange at Palegaon in Ambernath and a second significant interchange at Hedutane in Kalyan (East), offering connections to Metro Line 12, Kalyan Ring Road, and Kalyan-Shilphata Road.
– Integration: At Shiradon, the ACR will connect with a newly built multi-modal corridor, linking to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Coastal Road, enhancing access to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. It will also connect with the Mumbai-Panvel Expressway and Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road.

Dr. Shinde emphasized that the ACR is anticipated to reduce intra-city traffic congestion, improve travel times, and modernize regional infrastructure. By connecting the Mumbai-Vadodara National Highway with the Samruddhi Highway, the new route will facilitate smoother travel to Nashik and other destinations, significantly enhancing connectivity within the MMR.
