Thane: 25-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Chawl, Initial Assessment Suggests Suicide
Thane, 14th August 2024: Officials reported on Wednesday that a 25-year-old woman’s body was discovered hanging in a room at a chawl in Thane city, Maharashtra. Senior Inspector Ranjeet Dere from Kopri police station indicated that the initial assessment suggests a suicide.
According to the Kopri fire station, the fire department received a call around 10 pm on Monday from residents of the chawl in Koliwada, Thane (East), about an unpleasant odour coming from a locked house. Firefighters arrived, broke open the lock, and found the deceased, an unmarried woman who was a tenant there, hanging from an iron bar in the room.
The police were notified, and the body was sent for a postmortem examination. On Tuesday, the Kopri police registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the matter.
