Thane: Bhiwandi Man Stabbed by Friends After Cigarette Dispute, Critical Condition

Thane, 5th November 2024: In Bhiwandi, Thane, a 26-year-old man named Mohseen Mehboob Khan was reportedly stabbed by his friends on Sunday evening after asking them for a cigarette. He sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving intensive care at a local hospital. The Bhiwandi Nizampura police have initiated a search for the suspects involved in the attack.
Mohseen, who lived in Nizampura, had moved to Bhiwandi a decade ago for work and supported himself through various odd jobs. During this time, he developed a close friendship with Adil Shaikh and Shahebaj Khan, with whom he frequently socialized. Reports suggest that tensions had been rising between Mohseen and his friends due to his habit of borrowing money and delays in repayment.
On the evening of the incident, Mohseen approached Adil and Shahebaj at a local paan shop while they were smoking and asked for a cigarette. When they denied his request, a heated argument broke out. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Adil humiliated Mohseen during the confrontation, which escalated quickly. The situation turned violent when Adil allegedly stabbed Mohseen. Bystanders stepped in to help, transporting the injured man to the hospital and notifying the police.
The Bhiwandi Nizampura police arrived at the scene soon after but found that the suspects had already fled. An officer involved in the case stated, “We received calls from witnesses and arrived promptly, but the accused had escaped. Mohseen’s condition is critical, and we recorded his statement to file a case.”
Authorities have charged Adil and Shahebaj under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 109 (abetting a crime), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing serious injury), and Section 352 (intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace).
