Thane: Police Raid Chawl in Bhiwandi, Detain Five Women for Illegal Stay
Thane, 10th December 2024: Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at a chawl (row tenement) in the Bhiwandi area on Monday, where they detained five women, as per an official statement.
The women, aged between 36 and 50, were unable to provide valid documentation for their stay in India, the release stated.
An FIR has been filed against them under the Foreign Nationals Act and the Indian Passport Act, according to the police.
The individual who had rented the house to the woman has also been listed as an accused in the case, authorities added.
