Eight Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested In Thane For Residing In India Without Documentation

Thane, 23rd December 2024: Eight Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended in Thane district, Maharashtra, over the weekend for residing in India without valid documentation.

Following a tip-off and a subsequent complaint, police carried out raids in the Kalher and Kongaon areas of Bhiwandi on Saturday and Sunday. The arrested group, which includes one woman, consists of individuals aged between 22 and 42.

The suspects were unable to provide legal documentation allowing their stay in India. Authorities confirmed that they were arrested and charged under the Foreign Nationals Act and the Indian Passport Act. The individuals were engaged in various occupations, including scrap selling (three individuals), labour work (two individuals), masonry, and plumbing.
