Lamborghini Catches Fire on Mumbai’s Coastal Road, Raising Safety Concerns

Mumbai, 26th December 2024: A Lamborghini caught fire while driving on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on Wednesday night, raising concerns about the safety of high-end luxury cars.

Business magnate Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond, shared a video of the incident on social media. He questioned the safety standards of expensive luxury vehicles, stating that such incidents undermine the expectations of reliability and quality.

The vehicle involved was identified as a Lamborghini Revuelto, known for its advanced safety features, including six airbags, seatbelt warnings, child locks, speed-sensing door locks, and lane departure warnings.

Launched in India nearly a year ago, the Lamborghini Revuelto is priced at Rs 8.89 crore (ex-showroom). It features a 6.5-litre V12 hybrid engine producing 825 bhp and 725 Nm of torque. The hybrid system, which uses three electric motors, delivers a combined output of 1,001 bhp, coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Fire services arrived at the scene and took approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident occurred around 10:20 PM.

Singhania’s social media post emphasized the reliability concerns surrounding Lamborghini, stating that customers expect top-tier safety and quality for such a high price. He remarked, “A Lamborghini engulfed in flames on Coastal Road, Mumbai. Incidents like this raise serious concerns about the reliability and safety standards of Lamborghini. For the price and reputation, one expects uncompromising quality—not potential hazards.”
