Mumbai: Train Manager Averts Fire Mishap at Churchgate Station with Swift Action

Mumbai, 17th July 2025: A potential fire tragedy was averted at Mumbai’s Churchgate Station on Thursday morning, thanks to the quick thinking and brave response of M.S. Joshi, Train Manager at the Churchgate Lobby.

The incident unfolded when a short circuit triggered a fire at an ice-cream stall within the station premises, posing a serious threat to commuters and infrastructure at one of the city’s busiest railway terminals. Witnessing sparks from the stall’s electrical panel, Joshi acted immediately.

According to officials, Joshi rushed to the scene, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and successfully brought the situation under control before the flames could escalate. His swift action helped prevent what could have been a major disaster.

The Railway Administration has applauded Joshi’s alertness and presence of mind. In an official statement, they commended his courage, dedication, and sense of duty, crediting his timely intervention with safeguarding both lives and property at the station.
