ED Attaches Anil Ambani’s Rs 3,716 Crore Mumbai Bungalow in RCOM Bank Fraud Probe
Mumbai, 25th February 2026: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani’s Mumbai residence ‘Abode’, valued at approximately ₹3,716 crore, in connection with an alleged bank fraud case linked to Reliance Communications (RCOM).
The action has been taken under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The investigation pertains to an alleged bank fraud of around ₹40,000 crore involving RCOM and its associated entities. The central agency has been probing the financial transactions of Ambani and his group for an extended period and has previously questioned him in connection with the case.
The bungalow, located in the upscale Pali Hill area of Mumbai, is a 17-storey structure rising 66 metres and is counted among the country’s most expensive private residences. The ED has issued a provisional attachment order, restricting the sale or transfer of the property pending further proceedings.
Officials allege that loans obtained from banks were diverted and not used for their sanctioned purposes. The attachment forms part of a wider probe into RCOM and related companies. The telecom firm has been facing severe financial stress for several years and is currently undergoing insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
Under the PMLA framework, provisional attachment means the property cannot be sold or transferred. If the allegations of money laundering are upheld in court, the asset may eventually be auctioned to recover dues owed to banks. However, Ambani retains the right to challenge the attachment order before the appropriate tribunal or High Court.
This is not the first such action in the case. Earlier, the ED had attached multiple properties linked to Ambani across several cities, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kanchipuram and East Godavari. These assets comprise residential units, office spaces and land parcels.
With the latest action, the total value of properties attached in the case has reached nearly ₹15,000 crore, with the Pali Hill residence being among the most high-profile assets under scrutiny.
