Mohammed Shams Becomes First Mumbai Division TTI to Cross Rs 1 Crore in Ticket Checking Earnings

Mumbai, 15th March 2026: Mohammed Shams Chand, a Travelling Ticket Inspector (TTI) from the Open Detail Batch of the Mumbai Division, has crossed the ₹1 crore milestone in ticket checking earnings during the financial year 2025–26.

According to Central Railway officials, Chand registered ticket checking earnings of ₹1,00,38,505 through the detection of 11,483 cases between April 1, 2025 and March 15, 2026. With this, he has become the first ticket checking staff member in the Mumbai Division to cross the ₹1 crore mark in the current financial year.

Railway authorities said the amount was collected through penalties imposed during checks on passengers travelling without valid tickets or violating railway ticketing rules across trains and railway premises.

Officials stated that the enforcement has helped prevent revenue losses to the railways and reflects ongoing efforts by ticket checking staff to curb ticketless travel.

Central Railway has also appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets issued through authorised sources such as railway station booking counters, authorised vendors, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), or the official website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

Passengers can also book tickets using the RailOne mobile application.

Railways reiterated that strict action will continue against ticketless travel as part of efforts to ensure disciplined travel and smooth passenger movement across the network.
