MHADA Lottery 2026: 75,000 Applications Received For 2,640 Homes In Mumbai; All Eyes Now On Lottery Draw Date

Mumbai, 2nd June 2026: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has received an overwhelming response for its Mumbai Housing Lottery 2026. A total of 75,366 applications have been submitted for 2,640 homes announced under the Mumbai Board lottery scheme, reflecting the huge demand for affordable housing in the city.

According to MHADA officials, an average of 28.54 applications have been received for every available house. The response highlights the increasing trust of citizens in MHADA projects and the growing demand for reasonably priced homes in Mumbai.

The Mumbai Board had announced the computerized lottery for 2,640 flats across various housing schemes on 30th March 2026. Applications were accepted until 28th May. The lottery includes flats located in Kannamwar Nagar (Vikhroli), Patra Chawl Siddharth Nagar (Goregaon), Old Magathane (Borivali), Gorai, Chembur, Bandra, Ghatkopar, Dadar, Wadala, Powai, Mazgaon, and several other areas across Mumbai.

Lottery Draw Delayed Due To Model Code Of Conduct

At present, the Model Code of Conduct is in force in Maharashtra due to Legislative Council elections related to local self-government bodies. Since the code will remain effective till 25th June 2026, MHADA has not yet announced the date, time, or venue for the lottery draw.

Officials said the announcement regarding the draw schedule will be made after the code of conduct period ends.

Draft List To Be Released On June 10

MHADA will publish the draft list of applications received for the lottery on its official website on 10th June at 3 pm. Applicants will be allowed to submit claims and objections till 12th June. After scrutiny of the applications, the final list of eligible applicants will be announced on 16th June 2026.

Benefit Of Price Reduction

MHADA had earlier reduced the prices of 1,221 flats in the Kannamwar Nagar project at Vikhroli by 7.5 percent. Officials stated that the availability of modern amenities, parking facilities, prices lower than market rates, and prime project locations contributed to the strong response to the lottery scheme.

This year’s lottery includes homes for all income categories, ranging from economically weaker sections to high-income groups. Amid rising property prices and limited affordable housing options in Mumbai, demand for MHADA homes continues to increase. Officials believe this year’s response is among the highest seen in recent years.
