Mumbai: Garbage Dumping Near BMC School at Jogeshwari Raises Health and Traffic Concerns
Mumbai, 4th August 2026: A large heap of garbage has reportedly accumulated on Ajit Glass, Oshiwara Garden Road, opposite the BMC School in Jogeshwari (West), triggering complaints from local residents and commuters over foul odour, unhygienic conditions, and traffic inconvenience.
According to residents, the unattended waste has been lying at the spot for several days, emitting a strong stench and gradually spilling onto the road. The overflowing garbage has reduced the available road space, making it difficult for two-wheelers, pedestrians, and other vehicles to pass safely.
Residents fear that if the waste is not cleared immediately, it could attract stray animals, increase the risk of mosquito breeding, and pose serious public health hazards, especially during the monsoon season.
Mazhar A. B. Khan, who highlighted the issue on social media while tagging the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Solid Waste Management Department, urged the civic authorities to take immediate action.
“A huge pile of garbage has accumulated near Ajit Glass on Oshiwara Garden Road, opposite the BMC School in Jogeshwari West. The garbage is causing a very bad smell, and the waste has spread onto the road, making it difficult for bikers, pedestrians, and vehicles to pass. The authorities should clear the garbage at the earliest,” said Mazhar A. B. Khan.
Local residents have appealed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to remove the accumulated waste without delay and ensure regular garbage collection in the area to prevent the issue from recurring.
The civic authorities had not issued any official response regarding the complaint at the time of publication.
