Pakistani Folk Song ‘Chalre Chalre Waal’ goes viral in India; know its story and original singer
Mumbai, 8th October 2026: A Pakistani folk song has taken Indian social media by storm, with millions of users creating reels on its soothing melody. Titled Chalre Chalre Waal, the traditional Saraiki song is being widely shared on Instagram, while several listeners say its tune reminds them of the popular Bollywood song Na Kajre Ki Dhar from the 1994 film Mohra.
The song comes from the Saraiki folk tradition of Punjab in Pakistan. Its title refers to flowing or curly hair. The lyrics praise the beauty and style of a beloved, describing his curly hair, black shawl and handkerchief. The romantic folk number celebrates his appearance and suggests that no one can match his charm.
The song has been performed by several singers over the years. Pakistani folk singer Muhammad Hussain Bandialvi is widely credited with popularising the original version. Later, singers including Shafaullah Khan Rokhri and his son Zeeshan Khan Rokhri performed the song in their own styles, keeping it alive among folk-music lovers.
The song received a fresh wave of popularity after Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma shared her rendition. Her version introduced the traditional Saraiki number to a larger Indian audience, prompting thousands of users to create reels.
Singer Shanzy Sibal’s acoustic rendition has also attracted major attention and reportedly crossed 50 million views on Instagram. Many listeners have compared its melody with Na Kajre Ki Dhar, though there is no established credit linking the two songs.
Its catchy tune, romantic lyrics and familiar sound have helped Chalre Chalre Waal cross borders and become a viral sensation in India.
