Mumbai: Nigerian Citizen Attacks Policeman With Knife

Mumbai, 16th March 2023: A Nigerian national attacked a policeman with a knife while he was investigating a call about drug sales in the Mohammed Ali Road area. The left hand of the policeman was injured in this attack. Pydhonie police arrested the accused after registering a case for obstructing government work.
Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Deepak Ghorpade is working at Pydhonie Police Station. Based on Ghorpade’s complaint, Pydhonie Police has registered a case under Sections 353, 333 and 332 of the Indian Penal Code. Ghorpade was working the night shift on Tuesday when he went to the Dhobi Street area on Mohammed Ali Road to investigate a call about drug sales. He inquired about the accused, Henry Dehchidu Bem (26). At that time, accused Bem attacked Ghorpade with a knife.
In this attack, Ghorpade got injured on his left hand. As soon as the attack took place, other policemen also came forward and the accused threatened them too. Ghorpade was taken to Nair Hospital after the attack. After treatment at the hospital, he was sent home. A case was registered on Ghorpade’s complaint in this matter. After that, the police arrested the accused, Bem. Police are investigating further in this matter. The police are also investigating the accused’s involvement in drug trafficking.
