Mumbai: Colaba Police Arrested Two People Over Alleged Posts On Pakistan’s Independence Day

Colaba, 16th August 2023: In a bid to prevent potential communal tension, the Colaba police have taken decisive action against two individuals who posted controversial status on Instagram in relation to Pakistan’s Independence Day. The move came after the Mumbai Police received reports on Monday highlighting the presence of these posts within the Colaba Market vicinity.
Promptly responding to the information, both the Colaba Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad swiftly intervened to address the situation and avert any potential unrest that may arise from such provocative content. Upon arrival at the scene, the police proceeded to inspect the mobile phone statuses of two 19-year-old individuals, revealing that their posts were indeed centred around Pakistan’s Independence Day.
In accordance with their findings, the law enforcement officials securely recorded the link to the contentious posts and also ensured the removal of any accompanying photographs. Recognising the inherent risk of escalating communal tensions due to the nature of the content, the police detained both individuals and registered a police complaint under the framework of Criminal Procedure Code 151(3).
