Mumbai: Bangur Nagar Police Apprehend Fake Policeman For Public Ruckus And False Information

Mumbai, 18th October 2023: Bangur Nagar Police arrested the person who was disguising himself as a policeman after he called the police main control room at midnight on Sunday and asked for help. Bangur Police seized a fake ID card from him at the time of his arrest. The police are conducting further investigation into this matter.

The arrested person is identified as Nilesh Pokharkar. On Sunday midnight, Pokharkar called the main control room and demanded security personnel for him on the false pretext of danger to his life. Accordingly, the team of police personnel reached the spot. However, to their surprise, they did not find any suspicious activity there.

When asked about the incident, Pokharkar disguised himself as a retired police officer and said that he was working at Ghatkopar ATS. Furthermore, he purportedly caused a ruckus in the nearby bar, causing a situation of law and order. Suspicious of his claims, when police asked him for an ID card, he showed them a fake ID card.

After that, Bangur police apprehended the accused and registered a case against him for impersonation and giving false information. The police are investigating his involvement in any earlier case.
