Mumbai: Serious Child Assault Case in Antop Hill: Accused Arrested Under POCSO Act

Mumbai, 15th November 2023: In a disturbing incident in the Antop Hill area, a heinous act of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy has shaken the community. The accused, a 32-year-old man, reportedly lured the child with firecrackers, subjected him to torture, and issued threats to prevent disclosure. The Antop Hill Police Station swiftly acted on the complaint, registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and apprehending the accused.

The incident occurred on Monday when the victim boy, along with a friend, was engaged in bursting firecrackers near their residence. Seizing the opportunity, the accused approached them under the pretext of offering more firecrackers. Subsequently, he coerced the victim into accompanying him to a building where the assault took place. The accused resorted to threats of harm if the child dared to reveal the traumatic incident.

Upon reaching home, the victim bravely disclosed the horrifying incident to family members, prompting them to report the crime to the Antop Hill Police Station. The police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the 32-year-old accused. Charges have been filed against him for unnatural torture, threatening to kill, and offences under the POCSO Act.

This is not the first time the accused has come under the scrutiny of the law. Records reveal two previous cases against him, both registered for uttering words, gestures, or actions with the intent to molest. The Antop Hill Police are delving into the accused’s criminal history, with two prior cases documented in the Antop Hill Police Station and Matunga Police Station under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code.
