Mumbaikars Anticipate Delay in Winter Chill as Cloudy Weather Persists

Mumbai, 22nd December 2023: The eagerly awaited winter chill seems to be playing hide-and-seek with Mumbaikars as the Meteorological Department predicts cloudy weather for the city in the coming days. Residents will need to exercise patience, as the prospect of colder days is delayed.
As per the Meteorological Department’s forecast, Mumbai will experience cloudy weather over the next two days, contributing to a delay in the onset of the winter season. The atmosphere is expected to remain humid, preventing the characteristic coolness that Mumbaikars associate with this time of the year.
On Thursday, the Meteorological Department’s Colaba center recorded a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, while the Santa Cruz center reported a minimum temperature of 23.2 degrees Celsius. These readings indicate a notable increase of 2.5 to 3 degrees above the average minimum temperature. The impact of climate change is also evident, with expectations of a rise in minimum temperatures and a decrease in maximum temperatures.
In the recent observations, the maximum temperature recorded at the Colaba center was 32 degrees Celsius, and the Santa Cruz center reported a maximum temperature of 33.1 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Colaba experienced a 1.2-degree increase in temperature within a 24-hour period. The Meteorological Department anticipates a drop in temperatures in the coming two days, providing some relief to Mumbaikars eagerly awaiting the winter chill.
