Food Delivery Boy Killed in Mumbai Road Accident Involving BEST Bus

Mumbai, 29th December 2023: In a tragic incident in Mumbai, a 22-year-old food delivery boy, Saurabh Aiyre, lost his life in a road accident involving a speeding BEST bus in Marol on Wednesday. Saurabh, who had been employed by a food delivery app for the past four months, was on his way to fulfill a food order when the accident occurred, as reported by the police.

The Sahar police swiftly arrested the BEST bus driver, identified as Rupesh Dahiwade, from the accident site, charging him with rash and negligent driving. The collision occurred below Marol Metro Station, where the BEST bus reportedly struck Aiyre’s bike from behind, resulting in the tragic outcome.

Aiyre’s brother, Akshay, shared the heart-wrenching details, revealing that the bike involved in the incident was purchased by the family after Saurabh secured his new job. Describing the distressing moment of being notified about the accident, Akshay stated, “On Wednesday evening, I received a call from my brother’s phone informing me about the accident. I quickly reached Marol Naka where people told me my brother had been taken to Seven Hills Hospital,” as mentioned in the FIR.

A police officer stated that BEST officials confirmed the bus was en route to Kurla when the accident transpired. The BEST bus driver now faces charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence).
