Body of 65-Year-Old Woman Found in Thane Apartment, Investigation Underway
Thane, 20th September 2024: The body of a 65-year-old woman was discovered in an apartment within a housing complex in Thane, Maharashtra, on Friday morning, an official reported.
Residents notified the police after detecting a foul odour coming from a flat in the Kasarwadavali area on Ghodbunder Road, according to Assistant Police Inspector Manish Pote of the Kasarwadavali police station.
The woman’s body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, indicating she had been dead for about two days, he added.
At around 10 AM, the local police alerted the emergency control room, prompting firefighters and the disaster management team to rush to the scene, said Yasin Tadvi, head of the civic disaster management cell.
The deceased, identified as Savitribai Kanodia, had been living alone in the apartment.
While a case of accidental death has been registered, further investigation is ongoing, police confirmed.
