Child Sexual Assault Case Unveiled in Ambernath, Thane: Primary Suspect and Five Accomplices Apprehended

Thane, 16th July 2024: A case of sexual assault involving an 11-year-old girl has been reported in Ambernath, Thane district. The primary suspect, who is a minor, has been apprehended along with five others, four of whom are also minors. One of the accused is a girl, as per the authorities.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the 11-year-old girl was persuaded by the female suspect to accompany her to a different area where the remaining accused were present. Allegedly, the main suspect sexually assaulted the girl in an auto-rickshaw, as per the victim’s statement. Despite threats from the perpetrators, the girl managed to escape, inform her parents about the ordeal, and seek help.

A case of rape has been filed under the new criminal legislation, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been invoked in this matter.

Inspector Jagannath Kalaskar from Ambernath police station confirmed that two adult suspects are in police custody, while the minor suspects have been placed in a reform facility.
