COVID Deceased Patients’ Relatives Can Get Rs 2 Lakh Compensation

Mumbai, October 10, 2020: Beneficiaries or next to the kin of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) deceased will get a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Bima Yojana. Citizens who have a registered for the policy and paid a premium of Rs 330 every year in Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Bima Yojana, the family members of such beneficiaries will be able to avail the compensation amount on the death of the premium holder.

The central government has started two schemes — Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana in May 2015. These schemes have been implemented for the citizens in the age group of 18 to 50 years. The annual installment for these schemes are Rs 330 and Rs 12 respectively.

“The process of getting the compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family members on behalf of the deceased person who was a member of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Bima Yojana is very simple and straightforward. Citizens should take advantage of this scheme,” said Senior Officer of Bank of Maharashtra.

The requirements for the claim are-

-Installments should be paid every year before May 31 (Passbook).
-Death certificate of the person should be submitted.
-The heir of the concerned person should fill the application in the bank. Within a few days after applying, Rs. 2 lakhs will be credited to the account of the concerned heir.
