Father-In-Law Allegedly Throws Acid on Son-in-Law Over Honeymoon Dispute in Thane

Thane, 19th December 2024: A 29-year-old man from Thane, Maharashtra, was injured after his father-in-law allegedly threw acid at him following a dispute over their honeymoon destination, according to police. Ibad Atik Falke, who was recently married, was hospitalized after the attack, while his father-in-law, Jaki Gulam Murtaza Khotal, aged 65, is currently on the run.

The conflict arose when Falke, who had planned a honeymoon in Kashmir, disagreed with Khotal, who wanted the couple to travel abroad to a religious site. The situation escalated when, on Wednesday night, Falke returned home and parked his car. Khotal, who had been waiting nearby, approached him and threw acid on his face and body.

Khotal is said to have opposed the marriage and wanted to separate the couple. He has been charged with voluntarily causing grievous harm by acid attack and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with other related offences. Authorities are actively searching for him.
