JK Tyre-WIAA Women’s Rally 2025 Kicks Off in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 12, 2025: The much-awaited annual JK Tyre-WIAA Women’s Rally to the Valley 2025 was flagged off today from the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) in Worli, Mumbai. Presented by JK Tyre and organised by the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), the rally saw participation from over 300 women in around 100 cars. Organised in the TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) format, the rally offered an exciting motorsport experience that united women from diverse backgrounds, celebrating the essence of womanhood.

The flag-off ceremony was graced by Ms. Pooja Batra, acclaimed Indian actress and model, Mr. Praveen Gupta – Chief Marketing Officer, JK Tyre & Industries, and Mr. Nitin Dossa, Executive Chairman, WIAA, along with other dignitaries.

Speaking about the rally, Sanjay Sharma, Head – Corporate Communication & Motorsport, JK Tyre, said, “For over a decade, JK Tyre has been committed to breaking barriers and making motorsport more inclusive for women. The JK Tyre – WIAA Women’s Rally to Valley has grown into a marquee event that not only celebrates the spirit of motorsports but also amplifies important social causes. We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm among participants and look forward to concluding this rally in total control.”

Participants leveraged the rally as a meaningful platform to spotlight important social causes such as road safety, women’s empowerment, sustainability, honouring women traffic police, and the ‘Save the Soil’ movement, among other engaging themes. Following a designated route that passes through some of the city’s iconic landmarks, the rally will culminate in Nashik with a grand celebration, where winners will be felicitated.

Addressing the media, Nitin Dossa, Executive Chairman, WIAA, said, “The goal of the annual women’s rally is to advocate legislation and policies for women’ empowerment and for their working rights. We push for girl child education and fight against sexual harassment. Today’s woman is no longer a dependant soul. She is independent, self-reliant, and capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to. These rallies have gained tremendous popularity and are now a matter of pride and keen interest for all automobile owners.”

Conducted under the aegis of Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India (FMSCI), this women’s rally follows the classic TSD format, allowing participants of all skill levels to engage in motorsport. This format emphasizes precision, requiring drivers and navigators to maintain an assigned speed while following route instructions. Teams must stay on track, as deviations—whether ahead or behind schedule—result in penalty points.

With a motorsport legacy of over three decades, JK Tyre has led initiatives like the Times Women’s Drive, Ladies Power Drive, and the Defence Wives Power Drive, encouraging women to explore and thrive in the world of rallying.
