Man Arrested in Navi Mumbai for Sexual Assault, Abortion, and Threats

Navi Mumbai, 19th July 2025: A man in Navi Mumbai’s Ulwe area has been taken into custody following serious allegations made by a local woman. According to police, the accused, aged 30, began a relationship with the woman earlier this year, deceiving her with intentions of marriage.

The complainant stated she was raped multiple times after being misled about the promise of marriage.
After the woman became pregnant, the accused reportedly procured abortion pills and compelled her to end the pregnancy. He is also accused of recording images and videos of her post-abortion, all without her consent.
Even after the abortion, the man allegedly continued to assault the survivor while insisting his plan to marry her had not changed.

When the survivor first attempted to approach the police on July 14, the accused reportedly prevented her from filing a report by apologizing and escorting her home. Later, however, he again subjected her to assault.
On July 15, he allegedly created a false joint affidavit asserting their marital status and used this document to threaten the woman, warning her against any legal action before severing all contact.

The survivor also accused a second individual, a friend of the main accused, of molestation while she was at the accused’s residence. According to the complaint, this man made unwanted advances and forcibly kissed her. He is reportedly at large.

Authorities in Ulwe have registered a criminal case against both men, invoking charges related to rape, molestation, and threatening behavior. The primary suspect has been arrested, while efforts to locate and apprehend the second individual are ongoing.

Police confirmed that the case is under investigation and have assured that both accused will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the law as per the survivor’s statements and evidence collected.
