Mumbai: Boisar MIDC Blast: Chemical Company Reactor Explodes, Workers Injured

Palghar, 17th August 2026: A major explosion occurred at a chemical company in the Tarapur MIDC area of Boisar, Palghar district, on Monday morning, 17th August. The blast reportedly took place at around 11 am, causing panic among workers and residents in the surrounding area.

According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred at a reactor at a company in the Boisar-Tarapur MIDC industrial area. The impact was reportedly felt up to nearly two kilometres away.

Two workers are reported to have sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment. There are also concerns that several other workers may have been injured in the incident. Further details regarding the number and condition of the injured are awaited.

The blast reportedly took place at Viraj Profile, an industrial unit involved in iron and steel production. The incident triggered fear among workers at the factory as well as residents in the surrounding areas.
