Mumbai: Central Railway Crackdown: RPF Takes Strict Action Against 311 Offenders for Unauthorized Travel

Mumbai, 1st November 2023: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) carried out punitive measures against 311 passengers found illegally travelling on local trains in the Central Railway network. The action included holding a night court to address these cases, resulting in the imposition of fines totalling Rs. 46,000 on the passengers.

A targeted operation was conducted during the evening rush hour in various stations, including Kalyan, Titwala, Badlapur, Panvel, Thane, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivli on Wednesday. The RPF registered cases against 197 individuals under Section 155 of the Indian Railways Act for unauthorized entry into reserved coaches. Additionally, 99 individuals faced charges under Section 147 for trespassing on railway premises.

Further, 13 individuals were charged for unauthorized loitering and begging in the railway area, while one person faced charges for violating the instructions of a railway servant. Another case was registered against an individual for creating a nuisance by consuming alcohol in the railway area.

The night court of Divisional Railway Magistrate, Kalyan, conducted trials for a total of 311 passengers through an audio-visual system. The Central Railway administration reported the recovery of fines amounting to Rs 46,950 from these passengers.
