Mumbai Commissioner Inspects City Before G-20 Summit
Mumbai, 27th March 2023: The meeting of the Trade and Investment Group of the G20 Council is being held in Mumbai from Tuesday, 28th March 2023, to Thursday, 30th March 2023. On this occasion, the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Iqbal Singh Chahal, conducted a field visit today. The Commissioner gave appropriate directions to the Municipal Corporation and other authorities.
The first meeting of the G-20 conference was held in Mumbai in December 2022. At that time, the central government also appreciated the city beautification works done by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Mumbai is famous in the world as the financial capital of India, and meetings of various groups of the G-20 Council will be held in Mumbai. On this occasion, special efforts are being made by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to highlight the prominent position of Maharashtra during the G-20 meetings.
Ahead of the meeting of the G20 Trade and Investment Group starting tomorrow, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has carried out special works for the beautification and cleanliness of the meeting places and hotel premises where the visitors will stay. It includes areas from Grand Hyatt Hotel (Santa Cruz) to Taj Lands & (Bandra) area, including Santa Cruz, Kalina area, Kalanagar, Bandra-Kurla complex, Mithi River area, Maharashtra State Road Development Department office area, Bandra Band Stand area, and others.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal toured today morning. Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Ashish Sharma, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) P. Velrasu, Joint Commissioner (Circle 3) Ranjit Dhakane, Deputy Commissioner (Special) Shri. Sanjog Kabare, Deputy Commissioner (Infrastructure) Ulhas Mahale, H East Division Assistant Commissioner Swapnaja Kshirsagar, Assistant Commissioner of H Western Division Vinayak Vispute, K East Division Assistant Commissioner Shri. Manish Valanju and other officers along with the Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Ramamurthy were also present for the inspection tour.
Additional road maintenance and repair works have been completed in G-20 meeting areas. Also, the park department has done green beautification at various places. The Solid Waste Management Department has completed the cleaning work by conducting a special campaign in all localities. Lighting has also been done at the intersections and on the street lamp posts. While inspecting all these works, the commissioner also gave necessary instructions to the concerned.
