Mumbai Crime Branch Rescues 15-Year-Old from Sex Trafficking Ring

Mumbai, 17th February 2025: A recent incident in Mumbai highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking, particularly involving minors. The Mumbai crime branch, in collaboration with the Harmony Foundation NGO, successfully rescued a teenage girl from a sex trafficking operation. The case unfolded when the young victim, only 15 years old, encountered another girl from Nepal who subsequently introduced her to two individuals involved in a trafficking network based in Bandra.
The rescued teenager had fallen prey to false promises, a common tactic used by traffickers to lure vulnerable individuals. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that young people, especially girls, face from organized criminal networks.
Dr Abraham Mathai, who chairs the Harmony Foundation, expressed both relief and concern about the situation. While acknowledging the positive outcome of this particular rescue, he emphasized that numerous other victims remain trapped in similar circumstances. Dr Mathai called for increased awareness and action from civil society, stressing that while one life has been saved, there is an urgent need to rescue many more.
