Mumbai: Dadar Station Erupts in Chaos as Central Railway Reshuffles Platform Numbers

Dadar, 10th December 2023: There was a commotion of passengers from the platform number at Dadar railway station, which is connected to the Central and Western Railway divisions. From Saturday, the numbers of platforms 1 to 8 on the Central Railway have been changed to 8 to 14 respectively to find a way out of it. The information about these changes will be given to the passengers by making frequent announcements at the local railway station. However, the new change is likely to confuse passengers. Meanwhile, the platform numbers of Western Railway have been retained.

Ganapati special trains, special trains released on the occasion of Diwali and other festivals and After Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvana Day, it was decided to change the number of the platforms. Accordingly, the new numbers of the platforms are visible from December 9.

Passengers are being informed about changing the number of platforms of Dadar station through apps like Yatri, and M-Indicator. Along with this, for the information of suburban local passengers, information will be provided frequently at the local railway station. Central Railway officials informed us that the work of changing the platform numbers will be started from Friday night, and the notices of new platform numbers will be visible on the board station in the morning.

Dadar station is very important on the Western and Central Railway. About 1,050 trains run daily from Dadar station of Western Railway carrying an average of 1.74 lakh passengers daily and about 900 trains run daily from this station of Central Railway carrying an average of 2.60 lakh passengers daily.

Dadar station of Central and Western Railway has a total of 14 platforms. It has seven under the Western Railway and seven under the Central Railway. However, local passengers with long-distance trains were getting confused due to the same platform number.

Central Railway announced platform number changes at Dadar Terminus:

– Platform 1: Old – 8, New – 8
– Platform 2: Permanently closed
– Platform 3: Old – 9, New – 9
– Platform 4: Old – 10, New – 10
– Platform 5: Old – 11, New – 11
– Platform 6: Old – 12, New – 12
– Platform 7: Old – 13, New – 13
– Platform 8: Old – 14, New – 14
