Mumbai: Dombivli Ticket Collector Carries Injured Passenger to Safety After Fall on Platform
Dombivli, 5th August 2026: A ticket checking staff member at Dombivli railway station assisted an injured passenger after she fell on Platform No. 5 while getting off a train on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on August 5, when Head Ticket Collector Vrushali Sawant Jadhav was on duty at Dombivli station. She noticed a woman passenger, identified as Pooja, around 23 years old, fall on the platform after alighting from a train.
According to Central Railway, other passengers getting off the train also stumbled over her in the rush, leaving the woman injured and unable to stand on her own.
Jadhav immediately went to the passenger’s aid and contacted the station announcer to arrange a licensed hamal to assist in moving her.
However, with the passenger requiring immediate medical attention, Jadhav carried the injured woman herself and took her to the Station Manager’s office.
The passenger was subsequently sent to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Central Railway said Jadhav’s intervention helped ensure that the injured passenger received medical attention without waiting for additional assistance to arrive.
The railway administration has advised passengers to exercise caution while boarding and alighting from trains and allow passengers to get off before boarding.
Passengers are also advised to remain alert during periods of crowding on platforms and around train doors.
