Mumbai Festival Unveils Diverse Lineup: 50 Events Across 50 Venues

Mumbai, 19th January 2024: A vibrant nine-day cultural festival is set to kick off in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, starting on January 20. The 2024 Mumbai Festival aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra, drawing the participation of distinguished dignitaries.

Girish Mahajan, the Minister of Tourism and Rural Development, Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of the Mumbai Festival advisory committee, and Jayshree Bhoj, Secretary of Tourism for the Government of Maharashtra, provided insights into the diverse lineup of over 50 events across 50 venues.

Here’s a glimpse of the festival schedule:

Opening Ceremony – January 20:
The festival commences with the Kala Ghoda art festival at Cross Maiden Garden from 6 pm to 10 pm, offering a journey through the city’s heritage.

Music Festival – January 19 to January 28:
Pop-up event cars will host concerts at unique locations across the city, surprising citizens with various DJ performances.

Cricket Clinic – January 20-21:
Tailored for tourists, enthusiasts, and fans, the Cricket Clinic at Thakur Cricket Stadium (Kandivali – East) provides on-ground participation with cricket coaches, recognizing Mumbai as the cricket epicentre.

Cinema Fest – January 20 to January 24:
PVR-INOX theatres celebrate the ‘Mumbai showcase,’ featuring a schedule of movie screenings reflecting Mumbai’s cinematic culture.

Maha Mumbai Expo – January 20 to January 28:
The expo at MMRDA Grounds, BKC, displays Mumbai’s cultural diversity with music, dance, cuisine, crafts, and more.

Beach Fest – January 20 to January 28:
A beach cleanup, sports, yoga, and beachside movie screenings unite the public, NGOs, celebrities, and UN Ambassador Dia Mirza.

Tourism Conclave – January 24:
Discussions at Grand Hyatt focus on global tourism opportunities, Mission Life, and the tourism ministry’s “Travel for Life” program.

Turbo Start – Forever Planet Startup Challenge 2024 – January 25:
Hosted at BSE, Fort, this event in partnership with Turbostart aims to provide startups with a platform for sustainable living and planet protection.

‘Mumbai Walks’ – January 25:
A walk at Gateway of India from 7 pm to 10 pm celebrates Mumbai’s unsung heroes, including police, firefighters, electricians, and other essential workers.

Paramotor Show – January 27:
The “Ultimate Motorsport Series” features skilled athletes capturing aerial views of iconic landmarks.

Closing Ceremony – January 28:
The Earth Movie Contest, in partnership with the United Nations India, NFDC, and PVR, culminates with the top 3 winners showcasing their movies and earning internship opportunities. The grand finale, “Concert for Change,” promises a night of inspiration and entertainment, emphasizing a shared commitment to a sustainable tomorrow for Mumbai and beyond.
