Mumbai: Fire Breaks Out in 10 BEST Buses at Anik Depot in Sion

Mumbai, 5th October 2026: A fire broke out in around eight to 10 BEST buses at the Anik Bus Depot near the Regional Transport Office (RTO) passing area in Sion on Monday evening. No injuries have been reported so far.

The incident occurred at the Anik Bus Depot on Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Road, near the RTO passing area. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), it received information about the fire at around 5.44 pm, following which the incident was declared a Level-I fire call at 5.54 pm.

Four fire engines, five jumbo tankers, one advanced water tender and a quick response vehicle, along with an ambulance, were rushed to the spot. Mumbai Fire Brigade personnel, police officials and BEST Traffic and ward staff were also mobilised to control the situation.

According to the latest update from the fire brigade, the blaze was confined to eight to 10 BEST buses. Earlier, BEST officials had confirmed that around 10 buses were engulfed in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. No injuries have been reported in the incident so far.
