Mumbai Police Apprehend Rajasthan Man Linked to Shooting Outside Salman Khan’s Residence

Mumbai, 17th June 2024: Mumbai Police recently apprehended a Rajasthan man and initiated a new case regarding the shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in April. The man, Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, had previously posted a YouTube video threatening to harm the actor, claiming association with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.

“We are currently investigating the criminal background of Mr. Gujar,” stated a crime branch official. Gujar faces charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) for criminal intimidation, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act. Further investigations are ongoing.

According to Mumbai Police, Gujar filmed the video on a highway in Rajasthan and uploaded it to his channel. A cyber police station in Mumbai registered the case, and a team was dispatched to Rajasthan for further inquiry.

In connection with the April 14 shooting, Mumbai Police also filed a fresh case and expressed intent to seek custody of Lawrence Bishnoi. Six individuals have been arrested thus far, including one who surrendered to police custody on May 1. The incident, involving gunmen on motorcycles firing multiple shots outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, revealed connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting the invocation of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

During the attack, Salman Khan was at home and was awakened when a bullet struck his apartment balcony. “I went to the balcony to check and looked outside but did not see anyone,” Salman stated in his testimony.

Earlier, Navi Mumbai Police had arrested five individuals, including an alleged member of the Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang from Haryana. They were detained for allegedly plotting an attack on Salman Khan, having conducted surveillance at his farmhouse in Panvel, his Bandra neighborhood, and locations where he filmed movies.
