Mumbai Police’s Brave Act Praised! School Bus Stuck in Water and…; Dramatic Rescue Video of Students Goes Viral

Mumbai, 18th August 2025: Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts have been battered by relentless heavy rainfall, throwing daily life out of gear. In Mumbai, several low-lying areas are submerged. Authorities declared all schools and colleges closed from 12 noon today for the afternoon shift. The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert for the next two days across Mumbai and parts of Konkan. Amidst this, one video has gone viral on social media — capturing a police rescue that is drawing nationwide applause.

Since last night, torrential rain has lashed Mumbai. Dadar, Matunga, Juhu, Andheri, Santacruz, Kurla, Sion, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Malad, Goregaon, and Kandivali reported severe waterlogging, with some areas submerged waist-deep. The city’s suburban train services have been disrupted, with tracks near Kurla and other stretches completely under water.

The most dramatic moment unfolded near Matunga Police Station, where a Don Bosco School bus carrying six children, two women staff members, and the driver got trapped in rising floodwaters for nearly an hour. On receiving an alert, Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Pawar of Matunga Police rushed with his team and rescued everyone safely, later bringing them to the police station.

Earlier, another Don Bosco School bus was stranded in waterlogged streets near Sion’s Gandhi Market, adding to the crisis. Videos of both incidents are circulating online, highlighting the dire situation Mumbai is grappling with.

The Mumbai Police’s swift action has earned huge praise. Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar, monitoring the situation, said: “I personally came to the Disaster Control Room of the BMC. We just held a meeting, and as per the Chief Minister’s directions, discussions were held with the Commissioner.”
