Mumbai’s Weather Delight: Sunday Brings Cooling Relief with Below-Normal Temperatures

Mumbai, 4th March 2024: Mumbai enjoyed a delightful Sunday characterized by temperatures below the usual at 28.8°C, offering respite from the recent spell of scorching weather when temperatures soared to 37.2 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days. The city experienced a pleasant atmosphere with overcast skies and refreshing cool winds, contributing to improved air quality.

During the daytime, the temperature was notably four degrees lower than the norm, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with the maximum temperature reaching 28.8 degrees Celsius. As the clock approached 8 pm, various parts of the city experienced temperatures ranging from 20 to 23 degrees Celsius.

The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) for the city was recorded at a satisfactory level of 55, according to the 4 pm bulletin issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), signifying positive changes in air quality due to the cloudy conditions and cool winds.

However, the minimum temperature recorded at 5:30 am was slightly higher than usual at 24.4 degrees Celsius.

The past week in Mumbai witnessed fluctuating weather patterns, including two days of soaring maximum temperatures at 37 degrees Celsius. On March 1, the city even experienced unexpected, brief spells of rain showers, with the Colaba observatory registering 3 mm of rainfall.
