Navi Mumbai: Cobra Found Inside Security Guard’s Shoe in Mhape MIDC, Prompt Rescue Averts Danger
Navi Mumbai, 15th July 2025: A security guard at a company located in the Mhape MIDC area had a terrifying encounter on Monday morning when he discovered a full-grown cobra curled up inside his shoe. The incident occurred after the guard had left his footwear outside the security cabin due to heavy rain.
As he attempted to wear his shoes, he noticed strange movement and, upon inspecting them, found the adult cobra coiled comfortably inside. Fortunately, the snake did not strike, and the guard immediately alerted others.
Snake rescuer Akshay Dange was called to the site and safely removed the reptile. The cobra was later released into its natural habitat without harm.
With monsoon rains creating damp and cluttered conditions, experts are warning the public to remain vigilant. Snakes, seeking dry and warm shelter, often slip into enclosed spaces such as shoes, helmets, and storage bags during this season.
Authorities and wildlife experts urge citizens to take basic precautions, including inspecting outdoor footwear and bags before use, avoiding walking barefoot in unlit or grassy areas, and ensuring that surroundings are clean and free of rodent activity, which can attract snakes. It’s also advised to trim overgrown grass, seal gaps around doors and windows, and always use a torch when walking in the dark.
Importantly, if a snake is spotted, individuals should avoid handling it and instead contact a certified snake rescuer for safe and humane removal.
