Navi Mumbai Police Crack Down on Illegal Immigrants Involved in Narcotics Trade

Navi Mumbai, 31st December 2024: In response to concerns about the illegal drug trade, the Navi Mumbai Police recently carried out a crackdown on foreign nationals residing in the city without proper documentation, many of whom are involved in narcotics-related activities.
Milind Bharambe, the Commissioner of Police for Navi Mumbai, highlighted the issue of illegal immigrants, particularly individuals from African countries, who enter India on student, medical, or business visas but eventually become involved in the narcotics trade.
“Many illegal immigrants, especially from Africa, who initially arrive on student or business visas, later engage in drug trafficking. Several of them have been arrested and are currently in jail. Over the past two years, the Navi Mumbai Police have taken strict action against Africans involved in the narcotics trade,” Bharambe stated.
In addition to this crackdown, Bharambe reassured the public that the Navi Mumbai Police are taking comprehensive precautions to ensure public safety during the upcoming New Year festivities. He emphasized that law enforcement would be in place to prevent any disruptions and guarantee a safe environment for all celebrations.
“The police force is fully prepared to ensure a secure atmosphere for everyone celebrating the New Year. Officers will be stationed throughout the city, and plainclothes officers will monitor areas for drug consumption,” he said. He also urged the public to act responsibly during celebrations and abide by all legal guidelines.
“I appeal to people not to drink and drive. With many farmhouses in Panvel, officers in plain clothes will be on the lookout for illegal drug use,” he added.
