Nerul: Alaknanda Society Celebrates Ganeshotsav with Epic ‘Ram Leela’ Play
Nerul, 14th September 2024: Alaknanda Society, a vibrant residential community in Nerul East, has been celebrating Ganeshotsav with great enthusiasm for over 30 years. This year, the society’s cultural committee chose the theme of the Ramayana, staging a spectacular 5-day ‘Ram Leela’ play that depicted the timeless story, from the birth of Lord Ram to the defeat of Ravan.
The ‘Ram Leela’ brought to life the stories of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and their companions through a series of captivating performances. Over five days, the play showcased key moments from the epic, including the divine birth of Lord Ram, the breaking of Lord Shiva’s bow, the Sita Swayamvar, and the unwavering devotion of characters like Mata Shabari. It also portrayed the dramatic twists and emotional depth of the Ramayana, featuring events such as Sita’s abduction (Sita Haran), Ravana’s arrogance, the conflict between Bali and Sugriva, and Vibhishana’s exile from Lanka. The play reached emotional heights with scenes like Lakshman’s injury, Hanuman’s daring quest for the Sanjeevani herb, and his victorious return to save Lakshman. The final day culminated in the defeat of Ravana (Ravan Vadh), leaving the audience with the profound life lessons imparted by the Ramayana.

With its compelling storytelling, powerful performances, mesmerizing music, and vibrant dance, the ‘Ram Leela’ offered a rich cultural experience for all attendees, celebrating the enduring values of devotion, courage, and righteousness central to the Ramayana.
