Public Interest Litigation Filed Against Thackeray Family Regarding Disproportionate Assets

Mumbai, 30th November 2022: Amid the political upheaval in Maharashtra, the problems of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray are not seeming to abate. On one hand, the MLAs of his party are joining the camp of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, while on the other hand, his family has also been accused of having disproportionate assets.

A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed against Uddhav Thackeray’s wife, Rashmi Thackeray, and sons, Aditya Thackeray and Tejas Thackeray, in the Bombay High Court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the litigation. A demand has been made to get the CBI involved. The petition filed in the Bombay High Court will be heard on December 8.

The petition has been filed by 38-year-old Gauri and her father, 78-year-old Ajay Bhide. Bhide published Bal Thackeray’s weekly newspaper during the Emergency.

Meanwhile, Krishna Hegde, a former MLA of the party, also left and joined the Shinde faction. Earlier, MP Gajanan Kirtikar had also adopted the same stand.
