Pune Municipal Budget 2024-25: Anticipation Grows as PMC Expects Exceeding 10,000 Crores

Pune, 29th February 2024: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner and Administrator, Vikram Kumar, is set to present the municipal budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 to the Standing Committee on March 7. Last year, a budget of 9592 crores was presented, and this year, the PMC’s budget is expected to exceed ten thousand crores.

As per the resolution in the PMC general meeting, the commissioner is required to present the budget before the standing committee by January 15. However, due to the presence of an administrator in the PMC for the past two years, decisions regarding the budget have not been made in the standing committee and the main meeting. By passing this resolution, the commissioner has emphasized the need to present the budget in March.

For the third consecutive year, the PMC Commissioner and Administrator, Vikram Kumar, is set to present the municipal budget in March. A proposal has been submitted to the standing committee to present the budget on March 7, just a few days before the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections comes into effect.

As the budget presentation approaches, citizens of Pune and stakeholders are keen to learn about the schemes and projects planned by the commissioner. This includes initiatives related to infrastructure facilities, flyovers, level separators, sewage management projects, and river improvement projects in villages under the PMC. Additionally, there is curiosity about the allocated funding for these projects, which will be revealed during the budget presentation.
