Six Injured After Speeding NMMT Bus Ploughs Into Pedestrians in Navi Mumbai’s Turbhe Naka

Navi Mumbai, 1st August 2025: Six people sustained injuries after a high-speed electric bus operated by Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) lost control and crashed into pedestrians near Turbhe Naka around 9 PM on Thursday night.

According to Turbhe Police, the bus, assigned to the Turbhe depot, veered off near the Pfizer Company stretch, reportedly due to overspeeding, leading to the incident. The injured were promptly rushed to nearby medical facilities, and officials have confirmed that none are in critical condition.

The driver, identified as Pramod Ramesh Kanojia (52), has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 280 (rash navigation) and Section 124(A) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), as well as provisions under the Motor Vehicles Act.

“The bus appeared to be moving at excessive speed when the driver lost control. Fortunately, all injured persons have been treated, and their condition is stable,” said Sub-Inspector Prakash Jagtap.

The vehicle has been seized for forensic and mechanical examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Further action will be taken based on the findings.
