Solapur-Mumbai Flight Service to Begin Soon; VGF Proposal Approved

Mumbai, 12th August 2025: The long-awaited Solapur–Mumbai flight service is set to take off soon, following the Maharashtra Cabinet’s approval of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the route. The announcement was made by Muralidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, in a tweet on Tuesday.
“Solapur–Mumbai flight service will start soon and the proposal we gave to Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis for VGF i.e. Viability Gap Funding has been approved. This fulfills the promise made to the people of Solapur to start Mumbai air service,” Mohol said.
The decision, taken during the state cabinet meeting, clears the financial hurdle for launching the route. With this, Solapur will soon have its second air connection after the recently launched Solapur–Goa service.
Expressing gratitude, Mohol added, “Heartfelt thanks to the Mahayuti government along with Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis for approving the VGF!”
The Solapur–Mumbai service is expected to improve connectivity, boost trade, and provide faster travel options for residents of the region.
