Student Injured During Parliament March Taken Off Ventilator, Remains Under Observation

New Delhi, 22nd July 2026: Sakshi, the 23-year-old student who was critically injured during the Parliament march in New Delhi earlier this week, has been taken off ventilator support after showing signs of improvement, doctors treating her at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital said. However, she remains under close medical observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to hospital officials, Sakshi is now breathing on her own and her condition has stabilised, though doctors have said it is too early to declare her out of danger. She had sustained serious injuries during the chaos that broke out amid the protest march towards Parliament, where demonstrators alleged that tear gas shelling and the ensuing stampede led to several people being injured.

Sakshi was admitted to RML Hospital in critical condition with breathing difficulties and facial injuries following the incident. Her family and fellow protesters have been at the hospital since the incident, while several student groups have continued to demand accountability over the police action during the march.

The Parliament march, organised to press demands related to the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, witnessed heavy police deployment and clashes after protesters attempted to move towards Parliament. The incident has triggered political reactions, with opposition leaders questioning the police response and student organisations continuing their protest at Jantar Mantar.
