9 Fishermen in Distress at Sea Rescued by Indian Coast Guard off Daman
Daman, 18th August 2026: The Indian Coast Guard Air Station Daman rescued nine fishermen after their fishing boat was reported to be sinking off the coast on Tuesday, averting a potentially serious maritime accident.
Following receipt of a distress call, the Indian Coast Guard Air Station Daman promptly launched a Chetak helicopter to locate the distressed fishing boat and rescue the fishermen.
The helicopter reached the reported position and carried out the rescue operation, successfully bringing all nine fishermen to safety.
During the operation, three fishermen were found to have sustained minor injuries. They were brought to the Indian Coast Guard Air Station Daman, where they received first aid. They were subsequently shifted to a government hospital for further medical treatment.
The Indian Coast Guard’s swift response and coordinated rescue operation helped prevent a possible loss of life and highlighted its continued efforts to ensure the safety of fishermen and other mariners at sea.
